AbsurdTourney is being built as a Discord-native interface for start.gg tournaments. Keep start.gg as the source of truth while giving players and tournament staff a smoother way to navigate tournament activity inside Discord.
Current build: server registration, permissions, tournament linking, tournament syncing, and cached event display.
What it does now
The first public build focuses on the foundation: Discord permissions, server registration, start.gg tournament linking, and cached tournament event visibility.
Tournament linking
Link a start.gg tournament URL to your Discord server and cache its tournament event list.
Cached event display
Players can view tournament events from Discord without hammering the start.gg API.
Where it is going
The long-term goal is not to replace start.gg. The goal is to make Discord a clean front-end for registration, check-in, match navigation, result reporting, staff workflows, and community pages.
Entrants and matches
Show entrants, active sets, upcoming matches, and player-specific tournament paths.
Player and staff identity
Connect Discord users to start.gg through the website so actions can be authorized properly.
Result reporting
Let players report results from Discord, with staff dispute handling and start.gg sync.

Setup flow
Add the bot, register the server, set a tournament staff role, then link a start.gg tournament.
Invite the bot
Use the invite button and add AbsurdTourney to your Discord server.
Register the server
Run /tourney register-guild as the server owner or a user with Manage Server.
Set tournament staff
Run /tourney permissions set-role and choose the role allowed to manage tournaments.
Link start.gg
Run /tourney link with a real start.gg tournament URL.
Build around start.gg, not against it.
